SUDDENLY YOU BY LISA KLEYPAS

Synopsis:
She was unmarried, untouched and almost thirty, but novelist Amanda Briars wasn′t about to greet her next birthday without making love to a man. When he appeared at her door, she believed he was her gift to herself, hired for one night of passion. Unforgettably handsome, irresistibly virile, he tempted her in ways she never thought possible...but something stopped him from completely fulfilling her dream.

Jack Delvin′s determination to possess Amanda became greater when she discovered his true identity. But gently-bred Amanda craved respectability more than she admitted, while Jack, the cast-off son of a nobleman and London′s most notorious businessman, refused to live by society′s rules. Yet when fate conspired for them to marry, their worlds collided with a passionate force neither had expected...but both soon craved.
Summary:
Amada Briars, a spinster of almost thirty years, who wants to offer herself a male prostitute to lose her virginity with discretion. Her gift: a sublime and gorgeous stranger who comes knocking to her doors but nothing goes as planned. Amada finds himself confronted with dilemmas that will change her life.

Reactions:
When I arrived in the United States, Lisa Kleypas is one of the first authors that I was advised to read as Nora Roberts, Iris Johansen and James Patterson. I did not particularly appeal to romance and did not really know the historical romances types either. I starded by reading "The Wallflower" series. I found the style of Lisa Kleypas trully entertaining and well written. Then I continued with the "Hathaways" series and with more contemporary of "Daddy Suggar." She manages to captivate her reader, make you smile and make you dream.
her writting like
That's why on regular basis, I pick up one of her books and I am assured of to spend a good time.

With "Suddenly You", from the first lines you're in the thick of it with an intensity and an atmosphere charged with electricity that follows you for a long time. The characters are endearing and as always with Kleypas, the heroine does not have her tongue in her pocket and is far from dull. Instead, she undid the dictates of London society by proving that a woman can have a brain and her own thoughts.
It always makes me smile because it is a subject still as relevant today despite the freedom and openness which we flatter ourselves.

Obviously as it is a romance, there is the birth of a beautiful love story full of twists to let the reader enjoy leisurely the final "Happy End".
Well written, with scenes taking funny, sensual and poignant that make this book a success.

Sentences:

From Jack: “You’re not middle-aged. You’re ripe. Like a hothouse peach.”

From Jack: “Then here is your birthday present, Amanda. A night of fantasy.”

From Amanda: "Virtue was a cold bedfellow; she knew that better than anyone."

From Sukey: “The best things come to those who wait, I always say.”

From Jack: “Because owning books shouldn’t be a privilege of the rich. I want to print good books in a way that the masses can afford them. A poor man needs the escape far more than a wealthy man does.”

From Gemma: “To begin with, the way you both seem to regard your hearts as if they are clock mechanisms that need repair.”

SOUS L'EMPRISE DU DESIRE
DE LISA KLEYPAS

Synopsis:

THE UNWRITTEN RULE BY ELIZABETH SCOTT

Synopsis
Sarah and Brianna have always been friends, and it’s always gone like this: Guys talk to Sarah in order to get closer to Brianna. So even though Sarah met Ryan first—and has a huge crush on him—she’s not surprised that he ends up with Brianna. Except…he might be interested in Sarah, too. The more the three of them hang out, the more the tension builds between Sarah and Ryan. The more temptation grows. The more their feelings become irresistible. And when they find themselves alone together, there’s no turning back…
Summary:
Brianna and Sarah are best friends since kindergarten. They can count on one another and have always been united. Finally in appearance. The day Ryan becomes Brianna's boyfriend, even if he was the boy Sarah dreamed since grade school, things get complicated. Especially since Ryan does not seem insensitive to Sarah ...

Reactions:
From the title of the novel, my curiosity was piqued. "Unwritten Rule", it is true that between best friend, there is an invisible and implicit code of honor: you will never crush on the boyfriend / husband of your girlfriend.
The plot reminded me of memories and makes me smile. For all the bestfriends think about a forbidden someone one time or another, sometimes just like a fantasy, but the thought is here! There are those who crack, those who resist on the name of friendship and those who do not care about friendship and prefer to have the guy.
But all these solutions lead inevitably to one of the friends to be sad and pained. Love and friendship are more easy to combine into adulthood when all parties are engaged ... Well, I hope so!

Elizabeth Scott was able to capture all the values that best friends can not help but cherish and testing. She was able to put a little of each of us in Sarah and Brianna, a devilish way to catch the reader into her net. Her book is well written with fair and poignant emotions.
Sometimes with clichés especially for the poor Brianna who has nothing to please except her physique. She is selfish, superficial, lack of confidence in herself and lives only for appearances. Certainly she is a loving friend as Sarah does make her no shade, after that she is a hyena. Although she has extenuating circumstances due to a lack of love from her parents, however, she uses the same weapons as her mother to devalue and hurt her friend.

If Sarah has played rugs and accept Brianna's spikes is that she attaches importance to this friendship. Moreover, she felt guilty for loving Ryan, even if she crosses the forbidden line, she is honest and brave. Conversely, I am not convinced that Brianna would have had so many scruples!
I liked that the author plays the "Tom Thumb" for the reader to complain with Brianna at the beginning by putting the blame on Sarah until the clues are revealed and that friendship is viewed in front for that it is.

Who never had a girlfriend so beautiful that the competition did not exist? However, this type of girls are often packed with complex, false attitudes and believe that the rules do not apply to them. The last scene between Sarah and Brianna summed up all of their friendship: a crutch for Brianna needed to shine and an help to stand to face life for Sarah.
Yet friendships that last over time are those where we accept differences without judging.

With on the backdrop a forbidden love between Sarah and Ryan, the author guides us to the depths of love with a capital "L". The importance of parental love to become a full and accomplished adult . The importance of true friends who accept you for who you are and not for what they want you to be. I liked the different readings and conclusions that may occur while turning the pages. Easy to read, it is suitable for the young and older. There is hope in this novel and that's great!

Sentences

From Sarah: "In the world of friendship, I'm awful » Everyone knows the unwritten rule: You don't like your best friend's boyfriend."
From Brianna: « No, sometimes you have to make people love you »

From Sarah: « I wish the kiss had never happened. I wish it had never happened because then I wouldn't think about it as I'm falling asleep. »

From Sarah: « I don't know how much time passes, I don't know if the universe passes us by, if it decays and dies and is born again , because everything is his mouth on mine, my mouth on his, the feel of him pressed against me, soulders, chest, legs, and it's so much but not enought. »

From Sarah: « I am broken, I have cut myself wide open. I can see my heart and it's not what i believed it was, it is not good and kind and all the things I have always thought I am. »

From Ryan: « It's not right for me to see her when all I do is think about you »

From Ryan: « I din't want to tell you too soo, so I waited until you were asleep, «  he say's, grinning, and the we are both laughing. »

From Sarah: « All the things I've thought about love are true. It's beautiful and terrible and it doesn't make things perfect. It ends things, and it brings beginnins. »

THE UNWRITTEN RULE
BY ELIZABETH SCOTT

BLEEDING HEARTS BY ALYXANDRA HARVEY

DRAKE CHRONICLES VOL IV

Synopsis
As vampires from all over the world descend on the Drake farm for the Blood Moon gathering, security is ramped up. Lucy has been temporarily banned, for her own safety—and to allow Solange some time to adjust to her new existence. But their enemies realize how much Lucy means to the family, and plan to abduct her to use her for leverage against the new royal family. Instead, Lucy’s cousin Christabel is kidnapped by mistake
—and Connor Drake immediately heads off in pursuit, but isn’t in time to prevent Christabel’s infection by the Hel Blar. He can’t save her human life, but he can still try to save her new vampire life, and is willing to put his own life on the line for the girl he has grown to care so much about. Can he save Christabel, the Blood Moon, and his mother’s newly forged Vampire Alliance?

Summary:
A meeting of vampires from all around the world will take place and the Drake family decide to protect Lucy by sending her away from their home during this period. The girl took the opportunity to learn how to fight by taking courses with Hunter. Meanwhile, Lucy tries to hide her friendship with vampires to her cousin, Christabel. But a clan, the Blar Hel, kidnaps Christabel, by mistake, upsetting her world and that of Connor Drake forever.

Reactions:
In this new episode of the adventures of the Drakes family, the reader met Christabel and Connor. In the meantime, you resume the fun and humourous adventures of Lucy and Nicholas. I still love to follow this explosive and amusing couple...They are hilarious! Lucy discovers the soul of a warrior in herself and wants to learn to defend herself to fight with her beloved one. Also she wants to find her own place between her humanity and her passion for vampires.

The charming and romantic moments are punctuated with real fights or squabbles between the various protagonists. The reader always spent a good time in the company of the Drakes although the path taken by Solange and her behavior irritated me greatly. Christabel seemed too fast and too well adapted to her new situation and I admit I was disappointed in the development of her history. Not so bonding than the one between Lucy and Nicholas...

I read this volume with a stroke and pleasure. I've followed with interest through the last lines full of suspense that will make the mouth water for the next volume...

Sentences

From Connor: « You've got a girlfriend, not a terminal disease. »

From Solange: « I was talking to the guy, not pole dancing for him. »

From Christabel: « I read a lot. I love books. If they came in a bottle, I'd be a drunk too. I'd bloat myself on the wine of Wordsworth, the gin of Charles Dickens, the licorice liqueur of Edgar Allan Poe. »

BLEEDING HEARTS BY ALYXANDRA HARVEY
DRAKE CHRONICLES VOL IV

THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY

BY MARY ANN SHAFFER & ANNIE BARROWS

Synopsis
January 1946: writer Juliet Ashton receives a letter from a stranger, a founding member of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. And so begins a remarkable tale of the island of Guernsey during the German occupation, and of a society as extraordinary as its name.

Summary:
Juliet, a young English writer begins, by chance, an exchance of letters with some members of a book club from Guernsey after the end of World War II. In the correspondence, she revealed herself to these islanders and in the meantime, they told her theirs stories about the atrocities of war. A friendship begins as they open their hearts to her on paper. A friendship that will push Juliet to visit the Guernsey's island to write a book. A journey that will change her life in many ways.

Reactions:
I spent a wonderful time together with this book! During daily trip in the subway, he brought me the minutes of escape that help to start a day or end it on a positive note.
Although the topics covered in the letters were not always conducive to great laughter, I was surprised, however, often I was caught smiling. I even came to giggle out loud during some exchanges between Sydney and Juliet. There is a french expression for a novel like this one, it says: This book is a good moon in a box!
Every time I've open it, I was feeling great!
Sometimes the painful memories of war are told by some characters, but the accuracy of the words chosen by the authors is always admirable. The writers talked about sentiments without ever falling into tears or pity. It's a positive novel, full of hope and courage.
As Juliet, I wished to meet and know all the Guernsey's characters. Through the pages, they have become dears friends. Who would not like to be part of this circle, talking about books while enjoying a pie and sipping tea? I wanted to try the potions of Isola and see the figurines carved by Eli.

I even felt nostalgia over the lack of correspondence in our time. Of course, we communicate by email or text messages but it will never be as enjoyable as to read a paper letter. It reminded me of memories of "English pen friends" that I had when I tried to learn this foreign language.
But I would have especially loved receiving the stories of Oscar Wild's Cat, wouldn't you ?

Even in writing this text, I think of this novel with a smile. This is a book that is good for the soul. A simple story about ordinary people who became extraordinary through the reading of their adventures. A small jewelry definitely to keep on the shelves and read at the first signs of low spirited!

Sentences

From Isola: « Men are more interesting in books than they are in real life. »

From Amelia: « Life goeson » What nonsense, I thought, of course it doesn't. It's death that goes on; Ian is dead now and will be dead tomorrow and next year and for ever. There's no end to that. But perhaps there will be and end to the sorrow of it. »

From Juliet: « I have an idea for a new book. It's a novel about a beautiful yet sensitive author whose spirit is crushed by her domineering editor. »

LE CERCLE LITTERAIRE DES AMATEURS D'EPLUCHURES DE PATATES
DE MARY ANN SHAFFER & ANNIE BARROWS

Présentation de l'éditeur américain:
Janvier 1946.

VAMPIRE CRUSH BY A.M. ROBINSON

Synopsis
I swear, my life was always totally normal.
Normal house, normal family, normal school. My looks are average, I don't have any superpowers, no one's showing up to tell me I'm a princess—you get the picture. But when my junior year started, something not normal happened. There were new kids at school . . . new kids with a wardrobe straight out of a 19th-century romance novel, and an inexplicable desire to stay at school until sundown.

And on top of that, James Hallowell showed up. James, who stole my sandwiches in fourth grade and teased me mercilessly through middle school. James, who now seems to have the power to make my heart race any time he comes near.
But something weird is going on. Because James rarely goes out during the day. And he seems stronger than your typical guy. And he knows the new kids, all of whom seem to be harboring some kind of deep secret...

Summary:
Sophie is an ambitious teenager who wants to become the editor of her high school newspaper. Not really popular, rather lonely, she sees her life change with the return of her childhood friend and neighbor: James. Except that the teasing kid is now a very handsome young man super hot which made her heart beat faster. Unfortunately, it does not go outside often and seems to have many secrets. Also his return coincided with the arrival of a new group of strange students. It was enough for Sophie goes hunting to scoop even if curiosity killed the cat!

Reactions:
Many nods to the series or books appear in this novel full of humor. First of all, a tribute to Stephanie Meyers saga: a school close to a forest, a clan of vampires that can not come to school unnotice. The best part was to imagine vampire as a bunch of cosplay characters with sharp teeth. Almost as if the author was making fun of her subject nicely.
The reader can spot some scenes from "Dawson" like the one with the secret code used by James and Sophie to communicate, or the fact that the two teenagers sneak, sneak into each other the room through the balcony.
But it is the quality of the replicas brittle Carolina or teasing exchanges between Sophie and James who can not stop the reader from smiling. As dogs and cats, they are accomplices to have common childhood memories and to be the first crush of each other. Their story is fun, cute and unexpectedly moving.
"Vampire Crush" is taking, fresh and entertaining. Perfect after a day of work to decompress.

Sentences

In reality our relationship consisted of hair pulling (age six), doll vandalism (age eight), and relentless teasing about my freckles (age eleven).

The only boy who’s ever been in my room is James. (When we were nine and played doctor, I tried to give him an appendectomy with a plastic fork. He chickened out mid-surgery.)

From James: “What bothers you more?” he asks, leaning forward. “The fact that I’m a vampire or the fact that you have me here, sitting in your bedroom, after midnight?

From James: « You can’t kick me more than I’ve kicked myself. »

From James: “Do you know that all the blood in your body just rushed to your cheeks?” he asks. “They’re glowing.”

VAMPIRE CRUSH
BY A.M. ROBINSON

CARRIER OF THE MARK BY LEIGH FALLON

VOLUME 1

Synopsis
Their love was meant to be.
When Megan Rosenberg moves to Ireland, everything in her life seems to fall into place. After growing up in America, she's surprised to find herself feeling at home in her new school. She connects with a group of friends, and she is instantly drawn to darkly handsome Adam DeRÍs.
But Megan is about to discover that her feelings for Adam are tied to a fate that was sealed long ago—and that the passion and power that brought them together could be their ultimate destruction.

Summary:
Megan move from america to a small town in Ireland with her father. On her first day of class, she is irresistibly attracted to Adam DeRis. Despite the warnings of her friends and the strange rumors circulating on the Deris' family about them using magic, Megan can not help wanting to know more about this mysterious young man. Her curiosity led her to discover truths about her own power. She will need to make choices for the well being of humanity and face a lot of dangers ...

Reactions:
This book made me smile, frown and sit up in my seat to lose nothing of the action.
For me, there are three distinct parts in this story. The first, pretty cute and fun about the arrival of a new student to a new school, a new city, a new country.

I enjoyed that the story takes place in Ireland, the richest country full of legends, prone to supernatural tales. We find ourselves in a story more "organic" that the stories of vampires and werewolves in vogue since "Twilight." The reader learns about the power of the 4 elements: earth, air, water and fire. The author leads us to the Druids, magic and spirits. I've loved the super cute crow too! All based on the wonderfully magical atmosphere that Ireland gives off. Good choice to put the luggage of a teenage girl and a globe-trotting father and start a story!
The relationship between Megan and her father are also, charming, humorous and full of respect. Leigh Fallon captures perfectly the atmosphere of this father / daughter duo, even if sometimes the paternal reactions are more fiction than reality. But their complicity is touching. I smiled in the "sex talk" scene... Megan is approached by a father who is embarrassed and caught at his own game by his daughter. It was fun to read!

The second part comes when the light is shed on the distinctive characteristics of the DeRis' Family. To be honest, I was a bit lost in all the explanations. I have almost lost the smile to start frowning. Sometimes, I was back twice to the same line to keep track of the history of "the Carrer of the Mark." Fortunately, the author still managed to catch me, through personal revelations about the past of the characters, as Fionn and Rian.

The third section is reserved to action. It goes crescendo. First with the pressure of Megan's evocation, then with feeling of being followed, monitored and at least, the final scene on the boat.
Without exposing to much of the story, it is fair to say that the reader as soon as he discovers Megan's powers, he expects that she will make full use of them. Nothing too flashy! it is precisely what makes the story credible. Megan is powerful, like Storm in "X-Men", but in the tradition of demonstrations made by Rian, Aine or Adam. Although Adam shows off more of his magical abilities then the others in this volume. And then, just as in "Smallville," the heros have to give plausible explanations to theirs friends, even if they have to lie to not arouse suspicion ...Last but not least, the love relationship between Adam and Megan. It's a cute story but it is true that there was similarities with the couple Bella / Edward...
Their eyes meet and they can not resisit each other: the other is such a drug...
As Edouard, Adam tries to resist but failed to stay away from Megan. Then, he feels guilty to put her in danger. Finally, their love could lead to the end of the world if a solution is not found. I just hope that Adam does not feel the need to go into exile in the next volume...
But again, during the reading, the charm is working. I read this novel with pleasure and the ingredients, although some already known, made me spend a great time. The recipe was simple and effective. I would wait impatiently for the release of volume 2 in 2013 to follow the adventures of these four elements.

Sentences
From Adam: “This is going to sound crazy, but … from the moment I first set eyes on you I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you.”

From Adam: "I think our destinies are too closely linked to be diverted to a different course."

From Adam: “With you here, I’m ready for anything,” he said quietly, and kissed me softly on my mouth.
From Megane : "How can I separate the two things that make me feel whole?”

From Megane: “I love you so much,” I whispered. “I will be with you always, no matter what.”

CARRIER OF THE MARK
BY LEIGH FALLON
