WHEN I SEE YOU BY KATHERINE OWEN

Synopsis
She believes that love can never last, promises are usually broken, and true happiness is extremely elusive in the long run.

He believes most risks are worth taking, the promises he makes can be kept, and love doesn't factor in his relationships any longer.

They're both wrong.

Jordan Holloway has never fully recovered from the unexpected deaths of her famous Hollywood parents. At 27, she is still slow to trust and remains uncertain about the true duration of love and happiness.

Yet, it's been four years since she fell in love with Ethan when he rocked her world even as he marched off to war leaving her alone with their young son Max. Now, Ethan tells her this will be his last tour in Afghanistan and that soon the three of them will be together.

Still anxious at his leaving again, Jordan extracts a promise for Ethan's safe return from Brock Wainwright, her husband's sniper partner and best friend. But, can she put all her trust in Brock and can he keep such a promise?

At 29, Brock Wainwright fully embraces the dangerous life of a Navy Seal. He enjoys his freedom and not being committed to anyone; and, there's been a long line of women who can attest to that. Everything changes for Brock after he meets Jordan.

When the two men return to Afghanistan, Brock's intent on keeping his promise to Jordan about keeping Ethan safe for a variety of reasons, including the most disturbing one of all, he is more than just attracted to his best friend's wife.
This revelation plagues Brock on the battlefield and in a violent moment changes everything.

Reactions
The author has embarked me into her beautiful romance from the beginning to the end! A deeply distressing and amazing voyage...

It has been a long time since I had not read a romance taking time to live with its characters and make them known and discovered intimately to the readers.
Katherine Owen put her framework, pictured its landscapes and has described them with details for you to live as if you were a part of her world.

At the beginning, the reader follows Jordan in her life as a military wife with a husband who has to go back to war.
Feelings of loneliness, anger against the noble but selfish husband's professionals choices. Because although, he loves his job and his country, every time he goes to Afghanistan, he leaves a wife and child behind.
A difficult experience for all parties because the craving is an important part of their life.

The author then takes another direction when involving Brock in its romantic plot. A delicate love triangle, full of unspoken words and feelings, with an impossible promise to hold as a key word for drama.

The story is emotionally charged with lightness touch of charming moments but also with horrible fate's blows that make you run hot tears.

All the disasters, that are linked like a cruel joke from fate, have seemed difficult to bear.
Jordan is so unlucky with all the heavy crap she has to deal with, that I wondered how she did not end in therapy.
Her strength and determination are admirable but a little less horror in her life would have been nice.

Meanwhile, this novel has made me eagerly turned the pages, kleenex in hands!
A romance to devour absolutely ...

Sentences

From Jordan: "Opposites attract. He was the sunshine to my rain. He could find the best in an ordinary day of clouds and I gravitated towards his rays."

From Jordan: "If it was just about a diamond ring and saying you're committed to one another, everyone would get married and live happily ever after."

WHEN I SEE YOU BY KATHERINE OWEN

  1. I LOVE how you translated your review into French. I understood both! (So proud of myself!) I like the sound of this book - it sounds heart-warming and realistic. Did you cry when reading this, though? I can't deal with emotional stories. Thanks for the heads up!
